We won a major victory when we settled a grievance concerning overtime that placed Helen Porter RNs on the same wage scale as Porter Hospital RNs. The grievance settlement led to an average base pay increase of $2.72.
Jerilyn Langsdon, RN, Helen Porter Memory Care Unit representative, started the ball rolling on this back in August. When Jerilyn received a memo that PMC was changing the overtime pay structure at Helen Porter, she recognized it as a potential contract violation and contacted her union.
We filed a grievance, which ultimately led to this settlement.

What could be better than a fresh “breeze of hope” blowing across Louisiana during this holiday season?
Helping union members and their children attend college. For the past 22 years, Union Plus has distributed over $3.7 million in scholarships to help union members and their children attend college.
In anticipation of the upcoming legislative session, AFT-Maryland held their first lobby night training. Political Coordinator Todd Reynolds and Legislative Director Terence Cooper explained to the activists what issues the federation would be fighting for in Annapolis.
In 1991, Representative Assembly delegates passed an amendment to the NYSUT Constitution that provided prepaid retiree membership with full participation, voting rights and a more formalized structure – the birth of retiree councils.



On Monday, January 4th, at 7 p.m. the Sayville Council of PTAs and STA will be co-hosting an educational forum at the Middle School. The subject of the forum will be "Educational Crossroads".
