Regular Chapter Meeting 12-2-2016

At last night's regular chapter meeting, the following items were acted on by the membership:

Approval of the Tentative Agreement with District management that for any bargaining unit employee who announces their retirement before December 15, they will receive a 2.5% salary increase for July 1 - Dec 31, 2016 so that it may be calculated into their PERS retirement.

Approval of a 2016-2107 chapter budget.

Danbury Vigil for Unity and Justice

In light of the recent hate crimes in the area, the Danbury Nurses’ Union Unit #47 Executive Committee voted to join with other Unions and Social Justice Groups to show unity for peace and acceptance and the right for religious freedom.  This is the reason the United States of America was founded.    Come support our constitution for the right of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Join the Fight for Retirement Security

Republicans in the Michigan Senate are pushing Senate Bill 102, legislation that would close the Michigan Public School Retirement System to newly hired school employees.
 
This attack on our pensions is being led by anti-working family interests and billionaires—including Betsy DeVos, the U.S. president-elect’s pick for Secretary of Education. DeVos and others like her believe that workers should only have access to risky 401(k)-style retirement plans. We know there will be a serious attempt made to ban traditional pensions in the public sector, and it’s a slippery slope!
