Some agreements were made during negotiations on 3/21. Attached you will find a link to the proposals put forth (this includes counterproposals by the hospital) as well as a short summary of the meeting itself. March 27, 2017 has been added beginning at 9am-3pm at the Ethan Allen. We also have Negotiations March 28 and 29 beginning at 9am with no end time at the Ethan Allen Hotel.
MARCH 22--The American Federation of Teachers Detroit, at the request of its members, called on the Detroit Board of Education to extend Interim Superintendent Alycia Meriweather an opportunity to interview as a finalist for the Detroit Public Schools Community District superintenden position.
Two stalwart Louisiana Federation of Teachers leaders were named to the Louisiana AFL-CIO Hall of Fame in ceremonies held at the union’s annual convention on March 20. Mike Myers of Shreveport and the late Elsie Burkhalter of Slidell were among inductees at the ceremony.
The AFT Healthcare-Maryland and the Maryland Professional Employees Council (MPEC) locals were in Annapolis on Monday, March 20th to once again lobby delegates and senators on important issues affecting state workers. The membership turned out in an effort to be their own advocates on important issues.
(March 21, 2017) Proposed cuts to the U.S. Department of Education budget would hit Louisiana hard, costing teachers and students over $73 million, according to the Center for American Progress.

UPDATE: The AAFMCC Constitution Amendment passed unanimously at yesterday's General Membership Meeting. Thank you for all members who attended and exercised their right to vote.
ATTENTION AAFMCC MEMBERS:
The Spring 2017 General Membership Meeting will be on Friday, March 31st from 10 am- noon at Center Campus in N-106.
In order to continue preparing for our contract ratification, Wednesday, March 20's Executive Board Meeting with be a Closed Executive Session. Only members of the Executive Board will be premitted to attend.
We will be scheduling Building Rep and Open Membership Meetings to present the contract settlement once we have a signed agreement.
